Agro-associations of Ukraine do not support the initiative to ban chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl.
To ensure the safety of the export potential of agricultural products to the EU countries (one third of all agricultural products of Ukraine are exported to EU countries), the Ministry of Economy and Agriculture of Ukraine is initiating the idea of banning the use of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos methyl in Ukraine.
We recall that earlier EU Member States endorsed a proposal to impose restrictions on import and usage of food and feed with the residual levels of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl higher than 0.01 mg/kg.
Agro-associations do not support the initiative to ban chlorpyrifos, and prepared a request to the Hygienic Regulation Committee of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to develop new methodological recommendations for determining chlorpyrifos residues in agricultural products at a level of 0.01 mg/kg.
